How Marijuana Affects Life Insurance

NEW YORK (MainStreet) — The rule for partaking in marijuana is not clear when you sign up to purchase life insurance.

While the majority of life insurers do not have a written policy on consumers puffing away on an electronic cigarette or a joint, some will lump them with tobacco users, said Dorothy Miraglia, executive vice president of Engage Insurance, a St. Petersburg, Fla. professional employer organization providing human resources outsourcing solutions to small and mid-sized businesses.
