Connelly: Gov. Inslee pledges to fight ‘federal infringement’ on marijuana

Washington state and local officials pushed back immediately and hard against a Trump administration decision to free up U.S. attorneys to enforce federal marijuana laws in states which have legalized recreational pot.

An Obama-era policy, giving states leeway, undermined “the rule of law,” U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement.  Henceforth, U.S. Attorneys are directed to “use previously established prosecutorial principles.”

Gov. Jay Inslee was quick with the message:  The Trump administration is blowing smoke if it expects Washington to ignore a decision made by its voters.
