Estimates from proposed marijuana tax could bring City of Eugene $200k to $600k
If you were going to make a few hundred-thousand dollars more next year, what would you spend it on? It’s a question that Eugene city councilors are asking themselves.
If voters approve it, the City of Eugene will collect a 3% tax on retail recreational marijuana sales. Estimates from city staff say it could bring in anywhere from two to six-hundred thousand dollars.
At a work session Wednesday, the Council discussed where that money might go, and whether they should even be deciding it at this point.
