Mount Vernon says no to medical-pot co-ops, yes to food carts

August 12, 2016 |

The City Council unanimously approved two ordinances, one that will ban medical-marijuana cooperatives and another that will allow food-vendor carts downtown.

The council voted Wednesday night to close the city to medical-marijuana cooperatives immediately after a public hearing drew little response from the audience.

A medical-marijuana collective allows up to four qualified patients to grow up to 60 plants in one member’s residence for personal medical use.
