South Seattle legal marijuana grow op goes up in flames
Firefighters battled their way through intense smoke early Friday as a legal marijuana grow operation suddenly went up in flames in South Seattle.
Crews responded to the scene, the former United States Seafoods building at 6901 W. Marginal Way SW, at about 2:15 a.m. after receiving 911 calls about thick smoke in the area.
When firefighters first arrived, the smoke was so heavy they had to enter the building blind – they couldn’t tell where it was coming from. Meanwhile, the strong smell of burning marijuana kept filling the area around the building.
