Starbuds Loses Grow License In An Unprecedented Decision
Some very bad news for Starbuds has come out of Denver last week. In a historic decision, the executive director of the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses has denied the company what should have been a routine renewal for their cannabis cultivation license. This could be incredibly important to the whole industry, because it opens a door to the possibility of it happening to other companies as well. Stacie Loucks is the person that had the final say and she seemed to agree with the activists from the neighborhood that had turned on Starbuds because of the obnoxious odors and detrimental effects to surrounding businesses. Starbuds says that it plans on appealing the decision, but at this point they are expected to shut down their grow operation at their northeast Denver location. This case has been of major interest to people within the industry, and many of them never expected that it would actually happen. This is definitely the first time a neighborhood has been able to convince someone to deny a grow license renewal, and many worry it won´t be the last.
