WINE AND WEED, PT. 2: INSIDE ANTOINE CREEK FARMS
EVIL MOLLY — SEPTEMBER 17, 2014
This fall, I took a week-long road trip through Washington’s wine and weed country, you know, the other side of the Cascades. I ate a lot of apples, sampled a lot of wine and meet a lot of great folks out there working in weed. Here’s what I found outside Seattle’s city limits.—EM
Getting to Antoine Creek Farms was the like the Russian nesting doll equivalent of road tripping. After meeting master grower Joe in Chelan, he led me from highways, to paved roads, to gravel roads, to smaller gravel roads, to even smaller dirt-and-gravel roads until the farm gloriously appeared at the end of a canyon.
It’s no wonder that co-founder Tim McCormack fell in love with the spot. Buried on all sides by mountains and trees, but open enough to get ample sunlight, it’s the perfect spot for growing cannabis. Peaceful, quiet, with the exception of a cougar that was harassing animal life on the farm, the plants were clearly flourishing under the Eastern Washington sun.
Master grower Joe was kind enough to give me a tour.
