In our interview with Neil Closner, CEO of Canadian cannabis supplier MedReleaf, on Canada’s new marijuana regulations, he explained why specifically they decided to partner with Israel’s largest medicinal marijuana provider, Tikkun Olam.
“We came to learn about Tikkun Olam because they’re considered a worldwide leader in the industry,” he said. “They are cutting edge, and that’s what lead us to work with them because of their reputation, their expertise and the unique strains they offer. They are the largest government approved grower in Israel and the first to be approved. They also have a dominant market share there, and have treated over 8,000 patients, so having that experience in terms of treating people is something we really wanted to leverage here in Canada as there is such a lack of adequate understanding in terms of the benefits of medicinal marijuana.”
Having said that, it was hardly a surprise to learn today of an Israeli startup (which is backed by the government) called Syqe Medical Ltd. which is developing a tiny inhaler that will be particularly useful for medicinal marijuana patients, especially those in Canada.
