DENVER – Mandy and Hap Cameron met on a Mexico beach eight years ago and fell in love. Then, they traveled the world together. It may sound like their story is as romantic as it gets, but their journey has been a complicated one.
Cameron, a New Zealand native, has been trying to obtain a green card to enter the United States for years. During an interview with the U.S. Consulate, Cameron, in an attempt to be completely honest, admitted he smoked marijuana in 2007 during a free concert in Denver. Authorities said he violated a controlled substance rule and denied him access to the states.
